Facing cancer is scary enough. Thanks to Hope Connections for Cancer Support and their free programs, no one is prevented from getting the help they need. Hope Connections for Cancer Support helps people with cancer and their loved ones deal with the emotional and physical impact of cancer through professionally facilitated programs of emotional support, education, wellness and hope – all provided at no cost to participants. Open to anyone affected by cancer regardless of their cancer diagnosis, stage of disease, age, economic status, race, religion, sex or where they receive their medical care – Hope Connections offers support groups, educational workshops and mind/body programs for people with cancer and their loved ones.Ìý

Q&A With Janet L. Hadley:

What attracted you to this job & particular cause?

My cousin has breast cancer and I thought this would be a good utilization of my skills.

How are you making an impact through your work?

We are reaching out and connecting people with support, activities to improve health, education and more importantly empowering people to hope.

What advice would you give to anyone with a similar position, or to someone interested in working for a nonprofit like yours?

Be very organized and be very therapeutic.Ìý The participants always come first, the rest can be worked out around meeting their needs first.

What excites you most about your organization’s work right now?

We are looking to expand into Prince George’s County to offer our services and support, free of charge, to a new population of participants.
